“Barahonda’s origins lie in nature. Its roots go deep down into the tradition and land of this unique place in the world. It delivers a one-of-a-kind product technically refined by man’s special touch.”  This family-run winery can trace its roots back to 1850 when Pedro Candela Soriano began selling wines in earthenware pots from his small vineyard. The company began in a small bodega (cellar) which has expanded over time according to capacity and technological requirements. Over the years, they have widened their facilities, depending on production and marketing needs, and modernized production techniques: from hand-made processes until automation; as well as storing containers, from wood until stainless steel with French or American oak.

Deep cherry red colour. Intense aromas of ripe fruit, liquorice, and blackberry. Well-balanced and smooth, fruity and minerally with supple fine textures and beautiful length.    Varietals: 70% Monastrell, 20% Cabernet, 10% Syrah

Isaac Fernandez Seleccion is a unique collaborative venture between two individuals – Isaac Fernandez one of Spain’s most acclaimed winemakers and Aurelio Cabestrero whose vision and commitment helped bring Spanish wines to the forefront in the United States. They work at rediscovering forgotten regions of superior terroir and maximizing the potential from old vines of indigenous grape varieties in a number of regions.

In 2013 they launched Biutiful Cava, the traditionally produced sparkling wine of Spain with two expressions, a Brut Nature that is bone-dry and a Brut Rose. The wine name is pronounced "beautiful", just as it would be spelled en español. In 2014 they added a Brut expresion.

Life often is beautiful with a glass of sparkling wine in hand. These wines aim bring that beauty to your glass.

Señorio de Astobiza is a small, family-owned and operated winery in the Txakoli de Alava D.O. of Spain. Named after a portion of the mountains nearby, Astobiza is a young bodega with old family history in winemaking (thus the Señorio in the name).

Xabier’s memories of his father making wine and growing up in the vineyards during the 1950’s, carried him past his father’s death when he was only 15 years old, and gave him the motivation and dreams to one day create his own bodega. His passion began to take form in 1996 when he accrued his estate near the town of Okondo, and began planting his first 2 hectares of vines, and grew with each year. Once his vines produced the grapes he found suitable, he built his bodega in 2008 for his first vintage at the age of 68. Now Xabier is making beautiful Txakoli from his organically farmed estate that would have made his father proud.

El Bojito Rojo is a limited production, micro wine straight from a garage in Valdejalon ( North East Spain) where Fernando Mora and Mario Lopez make wines with the absolute minimum of fuss. They are focused on "Garage Wines" - made in small batches in traditional methods. This wine is named after the ancient clay drinking water container still used by growers today to keep water cool in Spain’s hot, dry climate.

Long Wines’ winemaker and Master of Wine student Fernando Mora has re-launched his range of Frontonio wines.

Wines are made at Mario’s family winery in Épila, right behind the small wine shop where Mario’s mother still sells bulk wine. The winery is named after Saint Frontonio, the patron saint of the village. Legend has it that he was beheaded by the Romans and his head thrown in the river Ebro, yet it appeared upstream. Going against the current fitted in well with the three partners’ project, hence the name.

They grow 25 hectares of vines and purchase some grapes from local farmers. Most of the vineyards are found at over 300m of altitude in the vicinity of Épila, on the left bank of the river Jalón, where clay-limestone soils prevail; the rest are further west, in Jarque, with vines planted at 600m on red slate soils. In all cases, irrigation is not used in this area with extreme temperatures and low rainfall levels below 300 litres per year.

Bodegas Juan Carlos Sancha is located in Rioja Alta, one of the cooler districts of Rioja and the one with the reputation for producing the finest, longest-lived expressions of Rioja. But this bodega is quite different to any other in Rioja, crafting wines that in some ways could be described as modern for Rioja (they spend less time in oak and are more polished and fruitier than the classic styles). Yet, in fact, when it comes to the vineyards everything here is about heritage and time.

Run by Juan Carlos Sancha, a professor of enology at the University of La Rioja, with just five hectares of land, the focus here is on vines of lesser known grapes such as tempranillo blanco, maturana tinta and maturana blanca. He is also a great champion of garnacha (a grape that historically played as significant a role in Rioja as tempranillo does today). These ancient varieties were discovered by Juan Carlos and his university colleague Fernando Martinez de Toda, rescued from extinction, and developed. Professor Sancha then went on to found the first Rioja winery employing these minority varieties in commercial wines.

Cellers Fuentes epitomizes the winemaking revolution that has seized hold of Spain's Priorat region in the past 15 years and propelled it into the spotlight. Founded in 1995, this 75-acre property was purchased in 2002 by John Hunt, an international entrepreneur and owner of Oriel Wines. Winemaking is under the supervision of the talented young winemaker Josep Angel Mestre. Gran Clos graces the wine lists of many of Spain’s most prestigious restaurants, not least among them the world-class establishment of El Bulli.

40 miles southwest of the fashionably bustling city of Barcelona, the Priorat region has been hailed as a modern-day superstar of Spanish winemaking. This arid, remote and rugged province, which derives its name from ancient priories in which ascetic Spanish monks over the centuries secluded themselves from the world outside, is best known today for its production of truly awe-inspiring reds. Grenache and Carignan are the bedrock of Priorat wines.

The vineyards of Alvarez de Toledo are located in the "Gold Mile" of El Bierzo's wine country. Exceptionally orientated terrains with the best soils of the entire region. The area surrounds the towns of Villafranca del Bierzo and Valtuille de Arriba, the most traditional production areas of the Mencia grape variety for red wines with an altitude range of 420 to 500 meters above sea level.

Plants are 40 to 60 years old Mencia vines. Their reduced production of bunches maximizes quality. We harvest them manually so our wines are loyal to the terroir of our region, el Bierzo.

The local variety of grape, Mencia, is perfectly suited to both its climate and environment. The ancestral use of this grape, generation after generation, has resulted in a natural selection, making Mencia the most suitable variety for producing red wines of great character.

Vega Moragona La Magdalena is a cooperative in Castilla-La Mancha located in the southeast of the province of Cuenca. It was founded in 1958 by 60 local producers and now has over 290 members. The vineyard area is approximately 1400 hectares, producing about 8,000 tons of grapes, predominantly Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Macabeo.

The terroir of the Ribera del Jucar has soil depth and a layer of pebbles covering it which allows for optimal and uniform ripening of the grapes, giving a raw material of exceptional quality for winemaking. The winery Vega Moragona La Magdalena has a modern winemaking facility, and barrels where the wines are kept until their optimal development.

Valenciso (founded in 1998) may be young in years, but founders Luis Valentin and Carmen Enciso (who gave their surnames to the bodega) were already long in experience when they began. They had worked together for 28 years by the time they left Bodegas Palacio to start their own business.

Valenciso seek to make classically structured, subtle and elegantly fine wines using 100% Tempranillo grapes from low yielding old vines in the Rioja Alta. Winemaker Alicia Eyaralar uses exclusively French barriques, a third being new each year, to produce this terrific wine in very small quantities.

Mariano García and his two sons Alberto and Eduardo García Montaña form a winning team. After 30 years (1968-1998) as winemaker at Vega Sicilia, Mariano brings his longtime experience as well as his particular wisdom in terms of wine aging. His two sons have their areas of responsibility clearly defined: Alberto is in charge of management and sales while Eduardo takes care of the vineyards and winemaking.

Garmón —a name which joins the family’s García and Montaña surnames— has new premises in the village of Olivares de Duero (Valladolid), barely 20 kilometres away from Mauro. Grapes are sourced from old vine plots scattered across various villages further east, in the province of Burgos. Moradillo de Roa on Duero’s left bank boasts high-altitude vineyards (up to 1,000 metres) with clay soils topped by sand. On the right bank, in the vicinity of Aranda de Duero, the García Family is very fond both of the finesse and balance found at La Aguilera, where they work with long-established purveyors, and the small patches of vines found around the villages of Tubilla del Lago, Baños and Hontoria de Valdearados, an area unaffected by land consolidation. Here, most vineyards are grown on slopes up to almost 900 metres with predominance of chalky soils. The family also envisages acquiring some vineyards around Peñafiel-Valbuena-Olivares (Valladolid) in the near future.

Tinedo is the Alvarez-Arenas’ family estate. It has been dedicated to the production of wine in a traditional way for generations. The estate is made up of 49 hectares of vineyards in the heart of La Mancha.
Our family are growers and winemakers since 1742. The existing main house, tool sheds, winery, and gardens were built up in the late 19th century by our great grand mother.

Manuel, Esperanza and Amparo Álvarez-Arenas, the last family's generation, have lead from 2002 the renovation of the vineyard and the winemaking concepts behind Tinedo's wines, looking for the full expression of the oenological potential of the terroir.

Tinedo has reinforced its social and environmental concerns, encouraging the sustainability as a model of agricultural, rural, and social development related to the culture of wine.

The historical origin of Viña Luparia dates back to 1876. Founded by Don Manuel Galán Caminero in Valdepeñas, the land of wolves, we have always sought to produce quality wines with the local varieties in the region.

Today, Viña Luparia chooses not to be subject to Denomination guidelines, so as to be able to fully develop its creativity with innovative wines, adapting to the tastes and preferences of new consumers.

The motivation behind this new approach is to create a Pack which accommodates all the varieties that grace the region and to connect with a costumer who seeks to explore and experience the world of wine.

Each of the wines about the wolf; the focal point of our proposal and the main character in the Viña Luparia universe, ranging from the Inuit legend of Amarok, to the mythological Lykaon, to Little Red Riding Hood: a whole universe to discover in the Luparia Pack.
