Burn Cottage Vineyard Property is a twenty four hectare estate in the foothills of the Pisa range in Central Otago, New Zealand. The vineyard is owned by the Sauvage family which also owns the celebrated Koehler Ruprecht estate in the Pfalz region of Germany, as well as several fine wine importing and wholesaling companies in the United States.
The property was purchased in 2002. It had been grazed by sheep for as long as can currently be remembered. There were, and are, no immediate vineyard neighbours. The site was much coveted in the region for it is sheltered from both northerly and southerly winds by large hills and forms a beautiful, protected bowl, much like a modern amphitheatre.
In addition to Pinot Noir they have a small amount of Gruner Veltliner and Riesling planted. The Pinot is planted on north and north east facing slopes and the Riesling and Gruner are planted on an east facing slope in a gully in the property. The Gruner Veltliner planting is from the first generation of this variety released in New Zealand.

This Sauvignon Blanc gives everything you come to expect from New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. The wine in the glass
initially grabs your attention with its beautiful colour and vibrancy, the aromas show passion fruit and gooseberries.
There is an underlying hint of nettles and passionfruit pulp. In the mouth, the wine is vibrant and exciting, showing
passion fruit sweetness along with the drive of fresh citrus. The mid palate is generous and the wine finishes with a
zesty zing.

The Orchard Lane winery lies down a long quiet lane in the heart of the Marlborough wine growing region. In an area once surrounded by apple orchards only one gnarled row remains, providing fresh apples to our winemakers over harvest.
The Winery is the second label of Sugar Loaf, the recent creation of young Kate Acland. Founded in 2004 by the then 23 year old Kate, Sugar Loaf Wines takes its name from the islands which lie off the stunning Taranaki Coastline where Kate grew up. After studying Viticulture and Oenology at Lincoln University and several brief stints overseas, Kate moved to Marlborough and got to work. In 2007 the opportunity arose to purchase a vineyard and disused apple cider factory, we set the winery up in time for 2008
